Safety on the Farm
Visiting a farm park is a fun, exciting activity for everyone; but it's not without risks. Our business takes these risks very seriously and has has controls in place to minimise them. To keep everyone safe, we have clear guidelines and daily safety checks in place. Please take a moment to read through the following rules and information before your visit.
General Safety Rules
- No eating or drinking while on the farm.
- Do not feed the animals, especially horses, donkeys, or pigs.
- Always wash your hands after touching animals or enclosures and before eating or entering play areas.
- Wash hands before and after entering the Play Barn.
- Leave any feed buckets outside the entrance of play zones.
Handwashing
- Use soap and water (not just sanitiser).
- Wash hands after touching animals, after removing shoes, and before eating.
- Avoid re-contaminating your hands (e.g. buggy handles or shoes).
Health Risks and How We Reduce Them
E.Coli & Cryptosporidium
Even healthy-looking animals may carry these harmful bacteria or parasites. E.Coli is spread through animal droppings or surfaces like fences. Cryptosporidium can be spread through water, waste, or surfaces and is common in lambs and calves.
- No lamb cuddling allowed.
- Supervised bottle feeding with strict hygiene practices.
- Clean facilities and regular safety checks.
Toxoplasmosis (Pregnancy Advisory)
Toxoplasmosis can come from contact with birthing fluids or waste from animals like sheep or goats. Risk is higher for pregnant women and immunocompromised individuals.
- Avoid contact with lambs, kids (young goats), and sheep, especially in spring and early summer.
- Practice thorough handwashing.

- Ask staff for assistance if needed.
- Asthma sufferers may experience stronger reactions.
